About the Program
Length: Four weeks
We invite you to consider our IES Abroad Siena Center as a site for the Chemistry of Cooking. Courses and co-curricular activities are meant to maximize the location while expanding students’ perspectives more broadly to apply their experience in a globalized society. IES Abroad will serve as the platform for studying the basic concepts of structure and bonding, as well as the physical and chemical transformations that occur in food preparations. This program is meant to appeal to second, third, and fourth-year students studying Chemistry. Through visits to local food producers, students will see the process of food preparation for local items such as cheese, wine, pasta, and coffee. This program will include hands-on cooking classes for students to experience these transformations.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee the availability of all housing, excursions, cultural events, guest lecturers or tours.
