It’s no surprise that health practices vary between cultures. But how can medical professionals leverage their understanding of these differences to improve care for diverse populations? IES Abroad faculty for our London – Health Practice & Policy Program and Santiago – Health Studies Program aim to answer that question and more with IES Abroad students every term.

Earlier this month, Professor Cesar Tacchi (IES Abroad Santiago) and Professor David Neita (IES Abroad London) took their seminars on the road and presented at Howard University. They lectured on “Intercultural Health in Chile” and “Comparative Approaches to Mental Health between the UK and Jamaica”, respectively.

While at Howard, the professors and IES Abroad College Relations Manager Noelle Baldwin met with undergraduate students who are considering study abroad and IES Abroad alumni, including IES Abroad Ambassador Lydia Carr (IES Abroad London, Fall 2016 | Howard University).

To cap off their busy day, Professor Tacchi also gave a presentation to a Spanish class, and Professor Neita met with a study abroad advisor at neighboring American University.
