IES Abroad is a New Posse Career Partner: Meet Our 2023 DEIA Interns

We are pleased to announce that Erick Fajardo-Ortega and Natalia Baez will be joining IES Abroad this summer as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Antiracism Interns! They are both Posse Scholars and the IES Abroad team is ecstatic to have them on board.

IES Abroad is proud to be the only International Education Provider listed as one of Posse’s Career Partners! With this internship program, we look forward to working with dynamic Posse Scholars to spotlight international education as a career path and allow our programs to be excellent opportunities for Posse Scholars to study abroad.

For our team, building pathways to study abroad from organizations like Posse and others is one way we continue to live out our mission of educating students to become global leaders.

Erick and Natalia will provide crucial support for the Diversity Relations & Advising team, led by Noelle Baldwin, Director of Diversity Recruiting and Advising. They will also work closely with Dr. Brittani Smit, the Vice President of DEIA in the President’s Office, along with Quinn McMurtrey, a Posse Intern alumna who now serves as the Diversity Relations Manager.

“We are very excited to join the Posse Foundation’s list of esteemed career partners. As a Posse alumna myself, the internship opportunities that I was able to partake in really helped me to understand what I wanted to focus on after college. Our hope for this internship is to provide Posse Scholars with practical experience in DEIA work in the field of international education. This year’s interns are energetic, intelligent, and full of ideas and we’re looking forward to seeing what they accomplish by the end of the summer.”

During their time with IES Abroad, they will be completing projects that assist in our efforts to:

  1. Assist in our efforts to diversify study abroad
  2. Allow them to learn about and interface with various IES Abroad departments
  3. Drive the IES Abroad mission forward and fulfill our commitment to representation and integration of diverse perspectives, cultures, and ideas

“As an intern at IES Abroad, my goal is to contribute by bringing my passion for international education and cultural exchange to the organization. I hope to utilize my skills in research, communication, and organization to support the development of meaningful programs and initiatives that can last a lifetime.
