It’s that time of year again, our Study Abroad Film Fest is back!

This year marks our 4th annual Film Festival, and we are excited to announce that, due to popular demand, the first annual IES Abroad Film Festival event will take place on Wednesday, November 1st, at the renowned Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

Join us on the red carpet for an extraordinary night of study abroad film screenings, as well as a meet-and-greet with student filmmakers, IES Abroad alumni, and our award-winning jurors. Find more event and ticket details on our Film Festival Event Page.

Founded in 2014, the Study Abroad Film Festival is one of the first student-focused study abroad film festivals in the industry. Until now, our Film Festival has been a solely online opportunity for students to share their amazing stories from study abroad—both what the experience meant to them, and how it redefined their world. Last year, the IES Abroad Film Festival carried an audience of 177 million through various online platforms.

In 2017, we had 73 film submissions – a record number. However, we’re excited to say we’ve beat our record again this year with 93 film submissions from our IES Abroad students!

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE FILM

So, who will be the lucky finalists? Well, you’ll have to wait and see. Be sure to check out the IES Abroad Facebook Page on Monday, October 2nd, when the finalists’ will be made public for voting. Stay tuned for more information regarding voting later this fall.

How are the finalists chosen? The finalists are selected based on jury rankings. You can read more about our jury, made up of highly-esteemed IES Abroad alumni and staff in the film industry

THE WINNER

The three student finalists will be invited to attend the Film Festival event at the MCA where we will screen each of their films. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced in front of a live audience, and have a Q&A session along with the other two other finalists.

We hope you join us on November 1st to celebrate and honor our talented student filmmakers!
