We’re ecstatic to announce Kate Flannery, best known for her 9 seasons as Meredith on NBC's hit show, The Office, as the host for the first ever IES Abroad Study Abroad Film Festival event on November 1st!

Hosted at Chicago's renowned Museum of Contemporary Art, the fourth-annual IES Abroad Study Abroad Film Festival will roll-out the red carpet with Kate, paving the way for an extraordinary night of study abroad film screenings, a meet-and-greet with student filmmakers, IES Abroad alumni, and our award-winning jurors.

Our three student Finalists will be in attendance, and the Grand Prize Winner will be announced on the night, so you won’t want to miss this event. Be sure to purchase your tickets by October 25th!

Kate continues to perform in the original cult comedy lounge act, the Lampshades, and also tours nationally as Jane Lynch's sidekick in her anti-cabaret act, See Jane Sing. Currently, Kate can be heard as the voice of Carol on Cartoon Network's OK KO, and recently starred in a number of indie films including Tenured and Slow Learners (both premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival), and in the critically acclaimed comedy Forth Man Out, now on NETFLIX.

Kate is honored to be this year's host and notes, "I have so much respect for the brave students who take on the challenge of studying abroad. There is no better way to enhance your college experience. It allows you to explore new worlds and experience different cultures.  And I'm so impressed with all the students who submitted films telling the story of their adventures while studying abroad."

Founded in 2014, the Study Abroad Film Festival is one of the first student-focused study abroad film festivals in the industry. Our Film Festival, until now, has solely been an online opportunity for students to share their amazing stories from study abroad-both what the experience meant to them, and how it redefined their world. Last year the IES Abroad Film Festival carried an audience of 177 million through various online platforms!

Please find more event details on our Film Festival event page, and don’t forget to head to our Facebook Page on October 2nd to vote for your favorite film!
