Kyuseok “KS” Kim, Ph.D., is the inaugural Center Director of IES Abroad Seoul, where he provides strategic leadership over academic programming, operations, and institutional partnerships to support a growing population of international students in South Korea, while advancing IES Abroad’s mission of academically grounded and culturally immersive international education.
Dr. Kim earned his Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Higher Education from Korea University. His research focuses on global higher education dynamics, international student mobility, and transnational education, and he has published and presented widely in academic and professional venues. A Fulbright Scholar in the International Education Administrator Program, he brings a comparative and policy-informed perspective to international education.
Prior to joining IES Abroad, Dr. Kim built a multifaceted career across higher education administration and the education technology sector. He served as a Project Manager at UWAY Co., Ltd., and held leadership roles at the State University of New York, Korea in admissions, external relations, and strategic planning. His professional foundation was shaped by nearly a decade at Sungkyunkwan University, where he managed international student mobility, global partnerships, and cross-border programs across multiple academic and international offices.
Bridging scholarship and practice, Dr. Kim is also an active commentator on higher education policy and globalization, contributing regularly to international and Korean higher education media, and is widely recognized as a leading practitioner in the evolving landscape of global higher education in Asia.
