Ilaria Gambarelli

Film Professor & Director, Screenwriter, and Producer

Ilaria Gambarelli is an Italian director, screenwriter, and producer trained at the CECC (Centre d'Estudis Cinematogràfics de Catalunya) in Barcelona.

She participated in the first Abbas Kiarostami workshop held in Spain, where she created the short film Porta Europa, as well as in Naomi Kawase’s workshop at the EICTV in Cuba.

Ilaria is the co-founder of Aretusa Films, through which she has produced and co-produced her first feature film Ti Offro da Bere, her latest film Io sono il sole, and works by other emerging filmmakers.

She alternates her work in writing, directing, and producing with programming for film festivals and teaching at IES Abroad Barcelona. There, she teaches Visual Storytelling, and Internship in Communication, Media and Audiovisual, and also collaborates as a teaching assistant in the course Film & the City, taught by Mariana Freijomil.

Since 2016, she has also worked as an administrative assistant at IES Abroad Barcelona, where she combines her academic and professional experience in communication and media.
