Bo Shimmin

Lauded for his expressivity and wide use of vocal colors, Native (Pueblo of Acoma) lyric tenor Bo Shimmin, resides in Milan, Italy where he works as a freelance operatic singer and maintains his own private voice studio. Bo is an avid champion of art song and lover of musical theater. Last November, he made his professional Italian recital debut at the renowned Lyceum Club overlooking the Arno river in Florence. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and DePauw University and has been featured as an artist at Vermont Opera, Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, Ad Astra Music Festival and Southern Illinois Music Festival, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival and Opera in the Ozarks. He is currently finishing an online Masters degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with Arizona State University. Bo is a Gates Millenium scholar, Gilman scholar and 2x Fulbright grantee to Italy. He completed his semester abroad in Milan in the spring of 2018. In his free time, he enjoys learning Italian, going out for aperitivo with friends and traveling.
