About the Program

Location: Virtual

Length: Periodic Lectures throughout the Term

Similar in scope and goals to in-person “visiting scholar programs” on U.S. campuses, each year IES Abroad will announce a list of 7-10 scholars that is rooted in global education and diverse perspectives and represents breadth of academic disciplines. Virtual Scholars can be scheduled for either a guest lecture or a classroom discussion. For each scholar, a brief bio will be listed, along with 1) titles and 100-word descriptions for two guest lectures (45 minutes) and 2) titles for two-to-three classroom discussion topics. This program will use technology to increase access and equity for “democratization of study abroad”—particularly to cohorts of students who cannot afford to study abroad, and/or for institutions that have financial constraints. This program is meant to appeal to faculty at all levels as a professional development opportunity and will include virtual lectures at any of IES Abroad’s 30+ global locations.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee the availability of all housing, excursions, cultural events, guest lecturers or tours.
