U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Targeted Academic Student Support:

• In addition to an assigned staff member who can address student issues, academic staff at the Rome Center will develop opportunities for specialized tutoring and student success skills building, similar to those that exist on U.S. university campuses.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Will assist you and your students in planning and preparing for your program.

City Tour:

• Guided walking tour of the city center.

Meals:

• Welcome and farewell meals to build sense of community and cohesion within the cohort. 

Airport Greeting:

• Organized airport greeting and transfer available via shuttle.

Transportation Passes:

• Local transportation passes will be provided for students and faculty for the duration of the trip.

Student Housing:

• IES Abroad will arrange housing for the School’s students in shared hotel accommodations both in Rome and the other regions. Hotels are centrally located in Rome. 

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes 11 integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with tourist interests. Examples include: Pantheon, Imperial Fora, Colosseum, Baths of Caracalla, Capitoline Museums, Roman Houses at Palazzo Valentini, Forum Boarium, Roman Aqueducts. 

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes four day trips out of the city that highlights the context of the immediate region. Examples include: Trip to Tivoli to visit Villa Adriana, Ostia Antica, Roman colony of Cosa, Villa of Tiberius in Sperlonga, the Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia at Palestrina.

Field Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes a four-day field trip to Pompeii, Oplontis, Herculaneum, Baia, Mount Vesuvius,
  Naples Archaeological Museum, and the Amalfi Coast.

Cultural Events:

• Program includes cultural events during the program. Events include: cooking class for preparing an ancient Roman meal, spa activities to experience the ancient practice of Roman bathing, and mosaic making.
