U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Enhanced Health & Safety:

• Additional predeparture orientations for the cohort prior to arrival on-site. Additional reflection time built into coursework and pre-/post-excursions.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Orientation, including overview of the Centers and the cities, academics, and comprehensive health and safety.

City Tour:

• Walking tour in the Milan historic, fashion, and financial districts, as well as guided tour of old Siena.

Meals:

• Enjoy two delicious meals (Welcome and Farewell Events) at Milan and Siena’s most-loved restaurants. 

Transportation Between Milan & Siena:

• Organized transportation between the Milan and Siena Centers. 

Transportation Passes:

• Transport passes in Milan for the duration of the program. 

Student Housing:

• Single rooms in a residence hall in Milan with access to kitchen facilities, Wi-Fi, laundry and gym facilities, study rooms, 24-hour reception, and weekly cleaning service. Shared hotel rooms in Siena.

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes three integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with tourist interests. Examples include: Duomo, Retail Safari walking tour, Armani Silos, and Contrada Museum.

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes two day trips out of the city that highlight the context of the immediate region. Examples include: Lake Maggiore, Modena, and San Gimignano. In Lake Maggiore, the students will enjoy a private guided boat ride and access to Borromean islands. In Modena, students will visit the Ferrari or Lamborghini Museum and take a balsamic vinegar tour. In San Gimignano, students will visit a local olive oil organic-biodynamic agriturismo.

Field Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one field trip out of the city that highlights the context of the region. Examples include: Tuscany. Includes transportation, hotel accommodations, guided Florence city tour, entrance to local museums, and two group meals.

Cultural Events:

• The IES Abroad Center will arrange three cultural events such as a wine tasting, pasta-making
  cooking class, athletic events, and film screenings.
