About the Program
Length: Four weeks
Build a greener tomorrow with Freiburg as a role model for sustainable innovation. Come explore, learn, and connect at our Freiburg Center for this unforgettable program. This highly immersive and innovative summer program focuses on the relevant theme of sustainability and sustainable city development. Learn firsthand about urban planning, architecture, water and waste management, energy, mobility, green business, and social innovations in Freiburg. The program is meant to appeal to Environmental and Sustainability Studies majors and to students of any major interested in sustainability and urban planning through high-caliber site visits related to well-known environmental organizations and guest lectures with industry experts. The program should be especially appealing to second-semester sophomores, rising juniors, or to students wanting to internationalize their resumes without committing to an internship or a full semester of study abroad.

Academics
Academic Program includes:
- Enrollment in one Faculty Director course (content TBD by the University, not transcripted through IES
Abroad Registrar)
OR - Enrollment in one customized course ES/US 304 - Freiburg Green City: Social, Ecological, and Economical Aspects of Sustainability - 3 credits with IES Abroad-sourced faculty. Optional Enrollment in one customized German Language course (with IES Abroad-sourced faculty)
