About the Program
Length: Semester
Give first-year students the opportunity to begin their college experience with a fully integrated international semester in Vienna with IES Abroad, a premier not-for-profit study abroad organization. This customized program is designed in partnership with the home institution, allowing faculty and administrators to determine the appropriate academic structure, courses, and learning outcomes while maintaining progress toward students’ degree requirements.
IES Abroad Vienna offers a broad range of academic disciplines, including Business, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Music, Psychology, History, Cultural Studies, Arts, Literature, Language and other social sciences and humanities, providing flexibility to support a variety of customized, first-year curricula. Students can gain cultural engagement with local community while developing independence, adaptability, intercultural competence, and a broader understanding of their field of study.
The program is particularly well suited for institutions seeking to expand access to global learning at the first-year level without requiring students to delay degree progress or navigate the visa process. Vienna's location in a compact, walkable city provides a supportive environment for students who are experiencing international education for the first time, while the program’s cost structure offers an attractive alternative to many traditional study abroad destinations.
IES Abroad works with the home institution to develop a program that meets its academic, enrollment and student-support needs, creating a scalable model for a meaningful international experience from the very beginning of a student’s college career.
