U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Enhanced Health & Safety:

• Additional predeparture orientations for the cohort prior to arrival on-site. Student Success Coordinator onsite and available to the group. Additional reflection time built into coursework and pre-/post-excursions.

Targeted Academic Student Support:

• In addition to an assigned staff member who can address student issues, academic staff at the Granada Center will develop opportunities for specialized tutoring and student success skills building, similar to those that exist on U.S. university campuses.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Virtual and on-site orientations, including overview of the Center and the city, and comprehensive health and safety.

City Tour:

• Program includes a guided city walking tour.

Meals:

• Welcome and farewell dinners to build sense of community and cohesion within the cohort.

Airport Greeting:

• Organized airport greeting and transfer available via bus service.

Student Housing:

• Students will be housed in residence halls, which include 17-21 meals per week, excluding holidays. Kitchen facilities are available and internet is provided.

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes two integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with tourist interests. Examples include: Alhambra and political communication research center at the University of Granada.

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one day trip out of the city that highlight the context of the immediate region.
  Example: Nerja.

Field Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one built-in local excursion that may be linked thematically to courses and includes accommodations, meals, and activities. Example: Morocco.

Cultural Events:

• Program includes three cultural events for the School’s students during the program such as cooking classes, wine tasting, theatre performances, athletic events, concerts, and film screenings.
