Fanta Aw, Ph.D.
Dr. Fanta Aw is a visionary leader in international education and global engagement, currently serving as the CEO of NAFSA, Association of International Educators, the largest international education association in the world. With a career spanning more than three decades, including distinguished service at American University as a senior lecturer and Vice President for Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence, Dr. Aw has championed diversity, global mobility, and student success across borders. IES Abroad has long been a committed member and proud supporter of NAFSA, sharing in Dr. Aw’s dedication to advancing global learning and equity in international education. Originally from Mali and with life experience across East and West Africa, Europe, and the United States, she brings a global lens to her work, having spoken in more than 60 countries on topics ranging from transnational migration to the intersection of AI and education. Her leadership has earned her recognition across media and advisory boards worldwide, underscoring her commitment to shaping a more inclusive, interconnected future in higher education.
