PO 340 - German Politics: Changes and Challenges

This course offers a comprehensive exploration of Germany’s political system, focusing on key political actors and their influence onvboth the country’s social and political landscape. Students will analyze the ongoing and evolving dynamics within Germany, exploring
current domestic and foreign policy challenges shaping the nation today. After exploring domestic political actors and factors, the course covers Germany’s foreign policy priorities, its role in the international system, and its involvement in major international organizations like the UN and NATO. Designed to enhance intercultural awareness, this course deepens students’ understanding of Germany’s political processes and encourage them to critically examine the resilience of Germany’s democracy in the face of emerging global challenges. Through engaging with academic debates, key documents, and up-to-date political material, students will be encouraged to think critically and independently, gaining a nuanced perspective of Germany’s complex political landscape.
