U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Virtual and on-site orientations, including overview of the Center and the city, and comprehensive
  health and safety.

Walking City Tour:

• Program includes a walking tour of historical downtown Santiago.

Meals:

• Welcome lunch and farewell dinner to build sense of community and cohesion within the cohort.

Airport Arrival Support:

• IES Abroad will coordinate transportation for students and faculty arriving on the official program
  start date from the airport to their housing. IES Abroad Santiago staff members will be waiting at the airport to assist in taking the correct transportation. For any students or faculty members arriving before the official program start date, detailed instructions will be provided on how to travel from the airport to their lodgings.

Transportation Passes:

• Local transportation passes will be provided for students and faculty for the duration of the trip.

Student Housing:

• Students can be housed in homestays with local families (Spanish-speaking) with breakfast and
  dinner included or in double rooms at a modern hotel located near the IES Abroad Santiago Center
  with no meals included. Wi-Fi is included with both housing options.

Faculty Housing:

• Program Leaders are typically housed individually in studio or one-room apartments, each with a
  fully-equipped kitchen and Wi-Fi.

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes four integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with touristic and
  cultural interests. Examples include: Cerro Calan Observatory, Huechuraba Planetarium, Museum of
  Memory and Human Rights, Villa Grimaldi, and Templo Baha'i.

Field Trip to the North of Chile:

• Program includes a four-day trip to the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile to observe the clearest
  skies in the world and visit both local observatories and see the touristic highlights of the region.
  Includes round trip transportation, lodging for three nights, all meals, and local site visits.
