U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work
  closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Targeted Academic Student Support:

• In addition to an assigned staff member who can address student issues, academic staff at the Siena Center will develop opportunities for specialized tutoring and student success skills building, similar to those that exist on American university campuses.

Enhanced Health & Safety:

• Additional predeparture orientations for the cohort prior to arrival on-site. Student Success. Coordinator on-site and available to the group. Additional reflection time built into coursework and pre-/post-excursions.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Visa Support

• The Application Check and Consular Submission Service (ACCeSS) is an optional service provided by IES Abroad in which student visa application materials and passport are reviewed and submitted at the Italian Consulate on behalf of the student. Additional consulate fees may apply. Eligibility for ACCeSS may vary by consulate jurisdiction.

Orientation (Required): 

• Virtual and on-site orientations, including overview of the Center and the city, and comprehensive health and safety.

City Tour:

• Program includes a practical city walking tour.

Meals:

• Welcome and farewell meals to build sense of community and cohesion within the cohort.

Airport Greeting:

• Organized airport greeting and transfer available via bus service.

Student Housing:

• Students will be housed in shared apartments. Kitchen facilities are available and internet is
  provided.

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes two integrated site visits that brings together academic focus with tourist interests. Potential site visit may include: Santa Maria della Scala hospital and Musei dell’Accademia dei Fisiocritici.

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one day trip out of the city that highlights the context of the immediate region. Potential day trips may include: Florence. In Florence experience the capital city of Tuscany and visit the La Specola Museum. Other trips will be mandatory according to the IES Siena course selections. Course Trips may included: Chianti, Valdorcia, Bologna or San Gimignano. 

Field Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one local cohort excursion that will be built into the program that may be linked thematically to courses. Accommodations, meals and activities to be included. Potential field trips may include: Padua. In Padua visit the original Anatomical Theater and experience a guided city tour of one of the oldest cities in Northern Italy. 

Cultural Events:

• Program includes three cultural events for the University’s students during the program such as cooking classes, wine tasting, and a visit to a Contrada museum and dinner.
