Our High-Impact Aid Commitment

Starting in the Spring 2025 semester, all students who apply for financial aid will benefit from the High-Impact Aid Commitment. For Summer and Fall 2024 students, work with your study abroad office to understand your funding options.

Our High-Impact Aid Commitment is a funding model which increases accessibility to study abroad for historically underrepresented students and those with high financial need. This commitment aligns with federal financial need metrics and your school’s institutional aid policies to determine your eligibility for guaranteed funding. It is designed to increase accessibility to study abroad—awarding the financial aid where it matters most.

“To my knowledge, no one is re-investing in students the way IES Abroad is doing with this model.”
Jamilah R. • Study Abroad Coordinator at Howard University

Scholarships [redefined]®

The fine print: We work really hard every day to get additional funding because we know our students—like you!—need it. That said, there’s still room for us to grow. Currently, scholarship and aid priority is given to study abroad students in the United States who demonstrate high financial need and are Pell Grant recipients. Many of our current scholarships and aid are allocated to students from Consortium Member and Associate Member schools that transfer financial aid. Students participating on Customized & Faculty-Led Programs are not eligible to receive IES Abroad scholarships and aid. Other eligibility requirements may apply.

When deciding on the program that’s right for you, we recommend talking to your on-campus financial aid office to get a full picture of your school's available financial aid, IES Abroad scholarships and aid, and additional outside funding. If you have more questions, your IES Abroad Representative is happy to help!

Supplementary documents and/or application materials are required for the University of Auckland scholarships, and some IES Abroad Grants. See details of these scholarships and grants for more information.
