Take the guess work out of applying for IES Abroad financial aid and study abroad scholarships. Let us do the work for you!

We have many different aid programs and each program has its own eligibility requirements. Use the online aid application to tell us a bit about yourself and upload the documents described below so we can determine every aid possibility for which you are eligible. Within five business days, you will hear from us confirming your eligibility.  Apply early - funds are limited.

Aid Application Deadlines

Summer - April 1
Fall/Academic Year - May 1
Spring/Calendar Year - November 1

Applications must be received and complete by midnight Central Time of the deadline date.

Personal Statement 
Submit a creative personal statement of no more than 500 words describing your goals for studying abroad in your selected location. We would like to know how you are uniquely qualified to receive IES Abroad financial aid and how our aid will help you reach your stated goals. If applicable, include information about your background and/or how you have overcome adversity as a traditionally under-represented student. Traditionally under-represented students in study abroad include, but are not limited to, students identifying by a certain race, sex, color, religion, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, marital status, national origin or ancestry, ethnic origin or veteran status.   IMPORTANT - Your name MUST appear on any document you submit or your application will be rejected.

Student Aid Profile
You must upload a document provided by your home school that shows ALL of the following information about your current aid situation:

  • Total grant dollars that can be used for study abroad (Pell Grants, SEOG, institutional grants, etc.)
  • Total loans that can be used for study abroad
  • Total amount of work study aid forfeited during the term abroad
  • Estimated family contribution as determined by FAFSA
  • IMPORTANT - Your name MUST appear on any document you submit or your application will be rejected.

If you do not have access to a document that shows ALL of the above information, please ask your home school financial aid office to complete the IES Abroad Student Aid Profile form.

Additional Materials 
Based on how you answer the aid application questions, you may be required to upload additional required documents.

Customized Programs and Full-Time Semester Internship programs are ineligible for any IES Abroad aid.
Applicants to January Term programs will only be considered for need-based aid, if eligible; maximum award $500.
