Hi all! My name is Lucy Swett, and I am a sophomore at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. I am majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Chinese. I was adopted from Hubei China, when I was one year old, raised in the United States, and now I am excited to go back for the first time! I hope you join me in my adventure!
Will you miss Shanghai if you don’t see the Shanghai acrobats? No, but it was still fun. It made me wonder how these people get into their career like balancing glass chandeliers on their feet, juggling hats, or rolling around inside a 5-foot hula hoop.
Greetings from Jiao Tong University! When we were first driving through campus, I have to admit it looked like a compound. It’s partly because that’s the way some Chinese buildings look, but also I think it was just the older part of the school.
Being sick isn’t fun. I rarely get sick, so it makes me really nervous when I do get sick. My mom told me not to be worried because the reason I rarely get sick is because I was probably exposed to many sick children when I was in the Chinese orphanage.
I was so relieved when the other IES Abroad students and I actually made it to Chengdu. After booking the tickets online, getting through security and customs at the airport, and using public transportation to get to our hostel, I was just glad I was in one piece.
