Study Abroad Scholarships for Academic Year Students

You are here

This scholarship is for students spending the academic year abroad in one location.

One scholarship was established by Phyllis Haberman, Vienna ’68-‘69, who earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Simmons College, and an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University Business School. She has 20+ years of experience as an investment professional, executing private equity transactions across all investment formats. Currently, she is Senior Managing Director at Egret Capital Partners and an investor with Golden Seeds LLC, a network of angel investors dedicated to providing capital to early stage companies led by women.

Another scholarship was established by the IES Vienna class of ’70-’71. 66% of the class studied abroad for a full year and experienced the full impact that studying abroad for a full year had on their lives. They have come together for class reunions every other year since 1972, having formed lifelong friendships that all began when they studied abroad.

Indeed, many IES Abroad alumni believe that studying abroad for an academic year expands the benefit of the experience! Need more evidence? Read the original research conducted by IES Abroad CEO and President Dr. Mary M. Dwyer, More Is Better: The Impact of Study Abroad Program Duration.
