Advising & Support
Choosing and directly enrolling in courses abroad can be confusing and overwhelming. This is why we offer you predeparture advising that’s specific to your needs. Our goal is to provide support and guidance throughout your application and enrollment process. But our advising services don’t stop there, and our staff is available to help you transition into your new home.
The support services we offer SAF direct enrollment students are specifically designed to help you achieve your study abroad goals as effectively and smoothly as possible. We know studying abroad is an adventure, and, at times, you may need help or just someone to talk to—that’s why our staff are there for you.
Whether you have questions about academic requirements, housing, or well-being and safety, our SAF staff is available to fully support you. Because of our close relationship with our university partners, SAF is also able to offer you unique academic, social, and cultural opportunities.
Daily Life
Leipzig University is a young and dynamic campus that welcomes people from all over the world. Dedicated to providing optimal studying conditions for its students, the university maintains a serene atmosphere in its libraries and study halls and nurtures creativity and depth of thought in its well-kept green spaces.
When you arrive, the Welcome Center is available to help you settle in; it runs a Welcome Week, so you can acclimate with other students, both international and local. On enrollment, you pick up your UniCard, which facilitates using the library, eating in the dining hall, and getting around the city on public transport.
Housing
You live well at Leipzig in a university-managed apartment that you share with likeminded students. You have your own bedroom and create a study-abroad family with your room mates, with whom you share the kitchen, living space, bathroom, and laundry facilities. There also a fitness center in the building. The SAF program fee covers early arrival housing, but it does not cover semester accommodation, so you pay the university directly for this.
Extracurricular Activities & Cultural Events
The Welcome Initiative for Foreign Co-Students, WILMA, organizes events and opportunities that show you the best spots in Leipzig to maximize your student life. A bike-friendly city and campus, Leipzig is a pleasure to get to know, and exploring on and off campus opens you to a world of experiences and friendly people. The university encourages you to join and participate in the sports clubs, university choir or orchestra, and student organizations and clubs, too.
