IES Abroad Kunming

You are here

Study abroad in Rome, and explore Italian language, history, culture, and more by selecting courses from our six academic themes:
Art History Early Childhood Education
Film Studies History & Classics
International Relations Sociology & Religious Studies

Whether you take all of your area studies courses in one theme or mix and match courses from multiple themes, Rome will be your classroom. Can you imagine places like the Vatican, the Pantheon, the Forum, or the Colosseum being part of your education? Our courses are experiential in nature, and we organize more than 150 course-related excursions each semester to historic, artistic, and cultural sites that take advantage of the city’s many opportunities.

No matter your current level of Italian language proficiency, this program is for you as you enroll in a required language course at your level. If you have four or more semesters of Italian language, you can enroll in our Advanced Italian Studies Program, which is designed to be a full immersion experience including Italian-taught courses, an Italian-only language pledge, and more.

Immerse yourself into Roman life as you:
  • Live with an Italian Student Companion (ISC)—a local university student who becomes your host and a resource to help you make the most of living and learning in Rome.
  • Take advantage of the opportunity to add international work experience to your résumé while earning credit by participating in an internship, social action, or archaeology placement and accompanying academic seminar.
  • Experience the Italian education system firsthand and meet local students when you take a course at one of our partner universities in Rome.

We want you to feel at home in Rome, so we do everything we can to help you integrate into life in the city. From housing to cultural events, our job is to make sure you have the most authentic study abroad experience possible.

IES Abroad has decided to discontinue our programs in Kunming effective with the spring semester of 2016.

We’re grateful for a positive relationship with our partner university in Kunming, and thank them and our on-site staff for their support in helping us provide excellent study abroad experiences for our students.

We invite you to consider these other alternative programs:
