IES Abroad Freiburg Familiarization Trip: European Union, Freiburg Language & Area Studies, and Freiburg Environmental Studies & Sustainability Programs | March 8-15, 2020

Join us for the unique opportunity to explore three IES Abroad study abroad programs in one location: Freiburg, Germany. Spend time with students, staff, and faculty, and participate in trips that our students enjoy to experience the IES Abroad difference for yourself!

Freiburg is home to IES Abroad’s European Union, Freiburg Language & Area Studies (LAS), and Freiburg Environmental Studies & Sustainability (ESS) programs. Nestled at the foot of the Black Forest, Freiburg is the quintessential German town. Discover the winding streets, historic architecture, and cultural influence that make Freiburg a charming location to study abroad!

The Familiarization Trip will explore each of the three academic programs for 1-2 days, allowing you to gain a better understanding of course offerings and program design, faculty and staff, and overall student experience.

Highlights of this Familiarization Trip include:

  • Meet IES Abroad faculty, staff, and current students
  • Tour IES Abroad academic facilities at our Center
  • Visit housing options (apartments, international guest house, and student dorms)
  • Visit classes from our three IES Abroad Freiburg-based programs, including:
    • German language classes
    • IES Abroad area studies courses, based on participant interest
  • Tour our partner university campuses
  • Participate in IES Abroad classes taught by local faculty
  • Experience IES Abroad local course-related trips, including a visit to Strasbourg
  • Selected cultural activities to help you better understand the student experience. Activities may include:
    • Hike in the Black Forest accompanied by IES Abroad faculty member.
    • Green City/Sustainability site visit (half day). For example, visit to a sustainable farm, tour of green living/green spaces, tour of a waste utilization plant, etc.

COST
Full Members: $600 Associate Members: $700
This cost covers your airfare, lodging during the trip, most/all meals associated with the Familiarization Trip, transportation to/from the airports, all program-related trips, and international health insurance.
