Oxford Direct Enrollment - St. Catherine's College Application Requirements

Eligibility Requirements:
  • 18 years of age
  • In good standing at your home school
  • 3.85 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or better and in good standing at home college or university. Applicants with a GPA of 3.7 overall will be considered if they can demonstrate strong academic motivation. GPAs below 3.7 will not be considered.
  • Junior or senior standing when program begins.
Application Requirements:
  • Online Application
    Applications may be considered after the published deadline on a space available basis. Please note that late applicants may be required to submit a non-refundable confirmation deposit upon acceptance in order to secure a place in the program. Please contact us with questions about applying after the deadline.

Submit the following in your MyIESabroad account after your Online Application is processed:

  • Home School Authorization
    Your on-campus study abroad advisor can either complete the Home School Authorization electronically through IES Abroad’s PartnerPortal system, or by filling out the PDF form linked above. Consult your study abroad advisor to determine how they would prefer to complete your Home School Authorization.
  • Official Transcript(s) for each college/university you have attended since high school. If you have multiple transcripts, IES Abroad will average the GPAs for all colleges/universities you have attended and use that cumulative GPA when reviewing your application.
  • Oxford Supplemental Application
  • Two academic references from faculty who are acquainted with your academic work for at least one year and on school/departmental letterhead
  • Personal academic statement stating your goals and reasons for wishing to study at Oxford University – St. Catherine’s College (200 words maximum). This information (alongside your 1st and 2nd tutorial choices) will be used to allocate your primary and secondary tutorials at St Catherine’s.  As such, please be as specific as possible about your areas of interest.
  • Two Writing samples (20 pages maximum) You should send written work that demonstrates your analytical, reasoning, language and writing skills, as appropriate for your chosen degree course. It must be original school or college work, that has been graded by a teacher, and not re-written or corrected in any way.
  • Color Copy of valid passport photo page. Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond the program end date.
  • Professional passport-sized (2’’x 2’’) photos of yourself.
  • If English is not your native language, St. Catherine’s requires you to submit scores from a recognized English language testing agency. Listed below are the requirements by test type.






7.0 with at least 7.0 in all sub scores

600 overall and 5.5 on the Test of Written English

110 overall and:

Listening: 22

Reading: 24

Speaking: 25

Writing: 24

A or 185

B or 185

Please note: Final admissions decision are made by St. Catherine's College, not IES Abroad. Average admission decision wait time is about 3-6 weeks.

Passport & Visa Requirements:

A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end date of the program, with at least two blank pages is required. Visit travel.state.gov to locate U.S. passport agencies in your area.

A student visa may be required to enter England. Upon admission, you will receive more information about the application process and any related fees. The visa application process for non-U.S. citizens can be extremely lengthy, please contact us for more information. If you're studying with IES Abroad in England, you may be eligible to use the IES Abroad ACCeSS program. ACCeSS is our visa processing service in which we submit your visa application and supporting documents to the consulate for you.
