London Direct Enrollment - Slade School of Fine Art Application Requirements

Eligibility Requirements:
  • 18 years of age
  • In good standing at your home school
  • 3.3 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale. GPAs below 3.3 will not be considered.
  • Junior or Senior standing when program begins.
Application Requirements:
  • Online Application
    Applications may be considered after the published deadline on a space available basis. Please note that late applicants may be required to submit a non-refundable confirmation deposit upon acceptance in order to secure a place in the program. Please contact us with questions about applying after the deadline.

Submit the following in your MyIESabroad account after your Online Application is processed:

  • Home School Authorization
    Your on-campus study abroad advisor can either complete the Home School Authorization electronically through IES Abroad’s PartnerPortal system, or by filling out the PDF form linked above. Consult your study abroad advisor to determine how they would prefer to complete your Home School Authorization.
  • Official Transcript(s) for each college/university you have attended since high school.
  • UCL/Slade Supplemental Application Form
  • A portfolio of art work. Send one portfolio on a USB flash drive with up to twenty images (each not more than 1mb) as a PowerPoint presentation. Notes should be included for each image including the title of the work, size, date and materials. Applicants with time-based or performance elements to their work may include a showreel with a maximum duration time of five minutes, no bigger than 2Gb. The showreel should be included on the same flash drive but must be uploaded as a separate file. It must not be embedded in the PowerPoint presentation. Seal in an envelope and write your full name. Mail portfolio to IES Abroad, 33 West Monroe St. Suite 2300, Chicago, IL 60603 
  • Contact details for one academic reference from faculty in applicant’s major/minor department(s).
  • Academic statement of purpose
    • Please attach a personal statement describing your academic interests and reasons for applying to Slade
    • This should be around 1-2  pages long
    • You should focus on your area of Academic interest, and why you are applying to Slade in particular Please remember to write your name at the top of the page in case your statement is separated from the rest of your application
  • If English is not your native language and you have not studied at an English speaking college or university for at least one year, Slade/UCL requires you to submit scores from a recognized English language testing agency*. Each UCL department/faculty has established a required level of English language competency: Standard, Good or Advanced.

Please note: Final admissions decision are made by Slade School of Fine Arts, not IES Abroad. Average admission decision wait time is about 4-8 weeks

Passport & Visa Requirements:

A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end date of the program, with at least two blank pages is required. Visit travel.state.gov to locate U.S. passport agencies in your area.

A student visa may be required to enter England. Upon admission, you will receive more information about the application process and any related fees. The visa application process for non-U.S. citizens can be extremely lengthy, please contact us for more information.
