William Hoye is Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at IES Abroad, a non-profit organization providing study abroad programs to over 8,000 college and university students per year at 85 locations worldwide. He has given hundreds of talks, lectures and presentations, published over a dozen scholarly and other articles, and been interviewed and quoted on the subject of legal and risk issues affecting international education by National Public Radio, the New York Times, USA Today, the BBC, the Chronicle of Higher Education and various other media outlets and publications. Mr. Hoye served on the Board of Directors of the Forum on Education Abroad for 9 years, and developed the first set of institutional standards for responding to international crises and individual student health and safety emergencies arising abroad.
Prior to joining IES, Bill served as Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at the University of Notre Dame. He also served as Faculty Editor of The Journal of College and University Law, the nation’s leading scholarly law review dedicated to the law affecting higher education for more than 20 years.
