Kathy Hollingsworth, Ph.D. is a Consulting Psychologist who specializes in mental health issues and personal development of college students, including study abroad. She worked in counseling centers for more than 30 years, including University of Missouri-Columbia, Stephens College, University of Illinois at Chicago (Clinical Director), Northwestern University (Director), and Duke University (Executive Director). She has been a consultant to IES for more than 20 years. She is also a consultant for the JED Foundation, meeting with colleges and universities to facilitate their development of strategic plans focused on prevention of suicide, alcohol/substance abuse and the creation of climate for student well-being. Dr. Hollingsworth has experience and expertise in the areas of trauma, clinical and developmental issues of emerging adults, consulting psychology, and systems approaches to campus crisis, among others.
She has published and presented nationally for AUCCCD, NASPA, NAFSA, Society for Adolescent Medicine and national conferences on law in higher education sponsored by Stetson and the University of Vermont. She was co-principal investigator for the Social Relationship Project, a 4-year research investigation about attitudes of university students in their relational lives at Duke University.
