Consider what the following three people have to say about adversity:

"Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are."
Arthur Golden is the author of the bestselling novel Memoirs of a Geisha.

"Adversity precedes growth."
Rosemarie Rosseti is a motivational speaker/trainer. On June 13, 1998 she was left paralyzed when an 80’ tree fell on her while she was riding her bicycle. In her keynote speeches, Rosemarie shares the lessons she has learned and demonstrates how to live life with conviction. She offers tangible ways to deal with the challenges of life through humor, motivating spirit and personal experience.

"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."
Napoleon Hill (October 26, 1883 - November 8, 1970) was an American author who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature. His most famous work, Think and Grow Rich, is one of the best-selling books of all time. Hill's works examined the power of personal beliefs, and the role they play in personal success. He became the advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933-36.

Even though each person writes about adversity from a very different perspective - Golden from that of a writer, Rosseti from that of someone who experienced a life-transforming accident, and Hill from that of a political insider - all three believe that experiencing adversity can lead to a transformation of self.

Using one, two, or all three quotes as a basis, write a personal essay in which you examine the role that adversity has played in your life and the transformation that it has produced within you. Your essay should not be more than 500 words.
