Our job is to make sure that your greatest challenge is deciding what landmarks to see first or discovering the best café—not finding a place to live where you feel comfortable. We do our best to locate housing that is reflective of how the local students are living. Our goal is that when you leave Salamanca, it will feel like home.
Homestays – Live with families or señoras in Spanish homes throughout Salamanca. Three meals are provided each day.
Residence Halls – Live in singles with private bathrooms and a shared kitchenette. Seven meals are provided per week.
Part of making you feel at home in Salamanca is doing our best to help you feel safe and cared for. Whether it is an orientation program that makes you feel prepared, house that is well-located and comfortable, or the field trips that take you places off the beaten path—we’re all about our student services. This is just one of the things we’re known for.
The program begins with on-site orientation that introduces you to the IES Abroad Salamanca staff, your fellow students, and the city of Salamanca. Topics such as academics, housing, transportation, and health and safety are covered during this time.
You also take walking tours of the city, participate in a scavenger hunt, and take a salsa and flamenco dance lesson during your orientation.
You have the opportunity to participate in field trips through IES Abroad and through the University of Salamanca.
IES Abroad Field Trip – One field trip is included in the program. Session I students visit Portugal, and Session II students take a trip to Cantabria.
University Field Trips – You can participate in optional, unsubsidized, day trips to sites such as Madrid, Toledo, and Segovia. Three-day trips to Barcelona and Granada are sponsored by the University.
