Description: 

This course aims to give students a deeper understanding of Italian culture and language interaction with native speakers. Students will get a broader insight of the Italian language, being exposed to different communicative situations, stimuli and contexts, and being trained to react to them.

Prerequisites: 

A deep interest in the Italian language and culture and a wish to improve understanding and oral performance

Method of presentation: 

Introduction to different communicative contexts, language training to react to each  situation  and  insight  of  cultural  reference.  Students  will  have  the  possibility  to  use  the  language interacting with native speakers from different backgrounds and experiences.

LANGUAGE OF PRESENTATION: Italian

Required work and form of assessment: 

Discussions, dialogues, oral presentations, role playing interactions with native speakers and oral report of what is being learned and experienced.

30% attendance, 30% active participation, 40% midterm and final.

content: 

Focus of the lesson will be on spoken Italian and all the aspects that this includes:
•  verbal and non-verbal expressions
•  speech signals and linguistic behavior in spoken Italian
•  Italian gestures
•  body language
•  stereotypes

This language training and analysis will also give a better understanding of the Italian culture and will enable the students to get a step forward in the grasp of the language.
