The nature of political-constitutional history in Europe; general problems in Spain in the 19th century. II. The crisis of the monarchy
The restoration; the “Dictablanda.”
III. The origins of Franquismo
The Spanish Republic; El Alzamiento Nacional and Francofalangismo; the constitutionalization of the
Franco state.
IV. The evolution of Franquismo
The Concordat for economic development; the question of the heir; the disappearnace of Franquismo;
the assassination of Carrero Blanco and the death of Franco. V. Political transition
The Coronation and expectations for political change; the government of Suárez and the first democratic elections. The Constituiton of 1978 and democratic institutions.
VI. Political parties in Spain
The Conservative Right; the Progressive Left; the electorical system. VII. Socialists in power
The elections of 1982 and the referendum of OTAN. From the Expo of Seville to the primaries of PSOE. VIII. The Divided Party in power: the alternative of Jose Maria Aznar and the elctiosn of 1996.
