We are excited to announce that two IES Abroad Tokyo students have been awarded scholarships from the U.S – Japan Bridging Foundation to study abroad in Spring 2013!
IES Abroad is saddened by the death of Tamar Kaplan, a junior from Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, Calif., and an alum of the fall 2012 IES Abroad program in Quito, Ecuador. Tamar died January 7th from injuries suffered in a car accident while traveling independently several days earlier.
Tamar was remembered by those who studied with her in Quito as a happy, smiling, friendly student, and as a good friend to all those she came to meet.

The first three Chicago-based college students in the Chicago Scholars Abroad Initiative are studying abroad in Ireland, London, and Spain this semester. IES Abroad, a consortium of 200 major U.S. colleges and universities, partnered with Chicago Scholars in 2011 to develop this first of its kind scholarship program to expand the number of underrepresented students in international programs.
Each year, IES Abroad recognizes five faculty members from IES Abroad Centers around the world for their teaching brilliance.
