Amsterdam Summer - Society, Culture & Gender in Amsterdam

Amsterdam, a city long associated with notions of tolerance and openness, is the perfect backdrop against which to study Art History, Literature, and Sociology through the lens of Gender Studies. We invite you to explore Amsterdam's history and present, and to consider how these notions are—or are not—changing.

Amsterdam is your classroom, with course-related excursions to world-class museums and notable Amsterdam sites playing a major role in each course. This program also includes a course-related excursion to Berlin, to further investigate your topics of study.

Barcelona Summer - Language & Area Studies

The IES Abroad Barcelona Language & Area Studies Summer Program is designed for students who want to study abroad in Spain and experience contemporary Spanish culture from the Catalonian perspective in a challenging academic environment. Language courses develop your written and oral proficiency in Castilian Spanish and area studies courses provide an excellent opportunity to learn about modern Spain in the larger context of the European Union. Courses are available in both Spanish and English.

Berlin Summer - Language & Culture

This program combines the development of language skills with English- and German-taught courses that expose you to Germany’s fascinating history and present-day culture and society. German language courses are available at the beginning and intermediate level. A German-taught Literature course is offered for advanced-level students. Course-related excursions plays a central role in the program, taking you outside the classroom to discover the rich heritage and contemporary culture of Berlin and Germany.
