Analysis of the different stages of political and economic integration in unification of western Europe since the end of World War II.  These will be examined within an international context.

Regular attendance and participation (10%), term paper (25%), mid-term (25%) and final examination (40%).

  2. First steps of a rapprochement between Europeans (1945-1950).
  3. From the ECSC to the EEC (1950-57).
  4. Successive enlargements: from Six to Twenty-Seven (soon Twenty-Eight).
  5. At the same time: community competences and difficulties.
  6. EU current operation chart.
  7. From the European currency snake to the current « euro crisis ».
  8. France, leader in the European construction.
  9. The Anglo-Saxon world and Europe.
  10. Euroscepticism.
  11. The European question in the 2012 French presidential election campaign.
  12. Conclusion: Europe's future.
