The cupola was painted in 1966 by the renowned 20th century artist Raúl Soldi during renovation work. It opened in May 1908 with a performance of Verdi’s Aida and it quickly became a world-famous operatic centre. After a long refurbishment, the theater reopened on the May 24th 2010 for the Argentina Bicentennial of the May Revolution (May 25th 1810).
