After a long, and emotionally draining week of shadowing doctors and nurses at Rob Ferreira tertiary hospital in Mpumalanga, we woke up at 4 Am for our African safari experience. After seeing a seemingly endless number of patients ravaged by HIV, TB, and other communicable diseases over the past few weeks, surrounded by endless desolation, poverty, heart-breaking stories, and illness, it was refreshing to have a day to simply sit back and experience the natural beauty of South Africa. To be quite honest, the whole experience still does not seem real. Choosing favorites is always hard for me, but seeing the leopard fifteen feet up in the tree munching on an Impala blew me away. We were in absolute awe as we heard the popping of flesh and the bright red insides opening up. It was truly an African safari experience.
Because words cannot do the experience justice, I will just attach the best of the pictures from the day.
