Constructed by local architect Mathurin Crucy in 1791, Cours Cambronne is a public square and garden famous for its statue of Pierre Jacques Étienne Cambronne, general during the French Revolution.
"The Cours Cambronne is a small park flanked by high-class apartment buildings, which give it a feeling of privacy that helps you escape the hustle and bustle of the large city just moments away. More importantly, it is located just outside the IES center. I walked through this park almost daily, and even when I took a different route to the center, I generally stopped in the Cours for a few moments of repose at lunch, to sketch the people always so interesting and complex, or (as the days grew warmer) to lay in the grass soaking in the springtime sun." -Alicia Frinak, Texas Christian University
