Program requirements:
  • 18 Years of Age
  • In good standing at your home school
  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA or Better on a 4.0 Scale
  • 3.0 GPA or Better on a 4.0 Scale in Japanese Language Courses
  • Two Semester worth of college-level Japanese Langugage or the equivalent is required
  • Sophmore, Junior, or Senior standing when program begins
Required application materials:
  • IES Abroad Application for Admission
  • Authorization and Evaluation.  Your on-campus study abroad advisor will instruct you on approval for this program
  • Official Transcript.  Submit one official transcript for each college/university you have attended since high school
  • Nanzan University application (request by contacting IES Abroad).  This application consists of many forms and must be submitted to IES Abroad.  In particular, please be aware of the following two requirements, which may take some time to acquire/prepare:
    • You must submit a photocopy of your passport information page before the application deadline (the passport must be valid for six months beyond the program end date).
    • You must submit two professor recommendations before the application deadline, completed on the official Nanzan University recommendation forms included in the Nanzan University application packet.
  • If cumulative GPA is below 3.0, the following additional components are required:
    • Professor Recommendation Form or Letter
    • Personal Academic Essay.  Although there is no length requirement the essay must address GPA, any particular academic challenges faced, and goals for studying abroad in your selected location.
